The Leo product family from our Spring 2019 collection features the Finnish coat of arms lion.
For us, the Finnish lion represents courage, solidarity and not giving up in the face of adversity – in Finland we use the word ‘sisu’ to describe this. In other words, very fitting with a ‘through the rough seas’ state of mind.
The Leo product family is available in our online store, at the Makia Flagship Store and at select retailers.
Rasmus Tikkanen is a Helsinki-based artist and a friend, who has collaborated with us with a series of print designs. Rasmus also hosted the Makia x Tretorn launch party in August at the old military island of Vallisaari in Helsinki where he has his studio. We interviewed Rasmus about his career as an artist, his inspirations, style and love for Helsinki.
Ivar Fougstedt was one of the original founding members of Makia along with Joni Malmi and Jussi Oksanen. Ivar spent a few days in his local neighbourhood in Tokyo with photographer Antti Rastivo.
